Why do we occupy space, breath air, continue to live and die; why do I exist? I believe that this is a profound question that occupies the thoughts of every single person on the planet. If you are a Buddhist, you strive and work to follow the “Eight-Fold Path” which will result in ultimate enlightenment (Nirvana). This is a complete liberation from suffering. If you are a Muslim, you work hard and obey the Quran in order to secure your spot in paradise (Jannah) so that you might avoid Hellfire (Jahannam). If you are an Atheist, then you have no reason for being. Living and enjoying the fact that you are alive is in itself the reason that you live. A notable and highly intelligent self-proclaimed Atheist, Richard Dawkins once said: “The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.” So there is our answer. At the end of the road we have absolutely no hope for anything greater than this life, there is only “pitiless indifference.” What a joyful reason to live.
My name is Josh and I am a follower of Christ. I am married to the most wonderful and loving woman on the entire planet! We have been married for the better part of ten years, most of which have been great. I say most, we have experienced some difficult and tasking times together; however, the foundation for us being able to make it through those times has been Jesus. What I would like to do, is give you the perspective of a Christian, that is to say, someone who follows Christ. I would like to show you my journey as a believer and share the things that I have experienced and learned along the way. I would like to offer you some perspective, so that you may be better informed. If you are a skeptic, then this will only add to your knowledge level. I would challenge you to read; don’t walk away. Don’t be “closed minded” and “turn your brain off” like many in the Atheist community accuse of those who believe in God. Who knows, maybe you will find that I have a brain after all?
I will begin by taking you on a journey through my life and my story of conversion. A story about how I came to know Yahweh. Know this, I am an introvert and if it were up to me, I wouldn’t be writing. I have however been given a gift and it is ultimately because of this gift of Grace that I write you and desire for you to follow Christ. It is because of this Grace that I occupy space, breathe air, live and have hope for the future.
“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
– Paul, an Apostle of Christ
