People are grappling for the truth, this is clear. Left and right battle one another as if either side were absolutely true and good. I creep through the comments sections of FB and observe the hatred, on both sides. Each delivering fierce attacks against the other, rarely focused on the issue at hand. Friends, siblings, family, parents, all the same hatred, as if politics were more important than a single relationship. Feminists roar about in-equality without love in their voices often times destroying the will and strength of good men. Men continue to trample women underfoot with their actions and words creating the necessity for the first. People want a virtuous leader to lead them, though the ideas behind what is virtuous are as diverse and volatile as the living conditions on Venus. Our culture is steeped in sexual energy. On one hand we say “behave yourselves” and in the other we say “free yourselves completely”. While women and children are being trafficked, in America, feeding those whose appetites have outgrown normal intimacy. Billboards say “life is short, have an affair” while marriages crumble and children are left to figure out why. People argue about something as basic as gender and children who aren’t old enough to understand much of this world, are used as fodder and forced into a position to make life changing and permanent decisions. We used to debate about whether or not viable human fetuses should be prematurely terminated. Now we debate over whether or not a living and viable human should be murdered outside the womb; with much support on the affirmative.
Racism… I don’t really know how to finish this sentence. We are wretched people and we are not getting any better. Where cultures come together in an attempt at diversity, there will always be a clash. Like a rock thrown into a lake, with short bursts of energy that ripple outward from the point of impact and fade only to rise again when a new rock is thrown. We are always throwing rocks. We debate about the existence of a system of racism. What exactly does a system that is specifically stacked against a particular people look like? The greatest example that still breathes “systemic racism” is this. Abortion. Just do a quick google search and look at how this system has absolutely decimated the African American population, specifically and intentionally. A recent billboard in Dallas featured this ad: “Black women take care of their families by taking care of themselves.” “ABORTION IS SELF-CARE.” Another way of saying: “Black women have an abortion, its self care #TrustBlackWomen.” This system is a far greater evil than even our very real and very evil criminal justice system, which incarcerates minorities at staggering rates; though these numbers pale in comparison to that of abortion.
According to the numbers, we are the most connected people to ever have existed on this planet while simultaneously we are the most alone. I myself consume depression and anxiety medication just to stay “normal”. This is becoming normative for our society if not IS normative. I hate it. The amount of people who take anxiety and depression medication is increasing at exponential rates across the spectrum of humanity. We no longer cultivate and develop an internal coping mechanism that allows us to handle what life throws at us. Instead we just numb the pain, so much easier. We wonder why alcoholism is such an issue. Suicide… I don’t need to elaborate, you can fill in the blank here. PEOPLE ARE KILLING THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO HOPE!!!!!!!!! HECK!!!!! But what do I know… I have only spent roughly a year of my life trying not to kill myself. The most common thread for suicidal people? It’s better to be dead than alive. It is more painful to exist than to not exist. This world is full of sorrow, hopelessness, violence, anger, cheating, murder, and enslavement. When people hit rock bottom, and they will, they look for reasons to keep going. When they run out of reasons to keep going, they quit fighting. If you haven’t experienced this yet, just wait, your time is coming. I am here for these people. You are my people and I have a message for you.
While people war over a “cure” for humanity in the name of progressivism or conservatism, there is but one cure for hostility, there is but one cure for our war within ourselves violently searching for an answer…
“But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
Christ meets you in your brokenness. He meets you in the place where you seek answers and meaning. He has come in order to bring all things together under Him and in Him. He comes now with open arms, inviting you to lay down your troubled heart before Him. Though He comes now in peace, He shall return in war and give you your just reward for rejecting His hand. There is no such thing as ignorant and innocent before the face of God who condescended to us in order to provide eternal joy and Glory.
“When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” St. Augustine
